Pousada Uakari is a floating accommodation located in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve, in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.
The reserve is one of the largest blocks of protected tropical forest in the world and is home to a rich ecosystem that is home to endemic species, such as the exotic bald uacari monkey and the black-headed squirrel monkey.
The inn floats peacefully on the water and consists of 5 comfortable bungalows with an exceptional location from where you can take wildlife tours, interact with residents of local communities and meet researchers working in the reserve.
The Pousada Uakari is an initiative of the community-based tourism program of the Mamirauá Institute. It is administered through shared management between the Institute and the communities of the reserve. The goal of Pousada Uakari is to generate income for local residents and promote the conservation of natural resources.
